Just realized my "mobile-first" design only works on desktop

Built a site I was proud of clean layout, smooth interactions, all "mobile-first." Then I checked it on an actual phone and everything broke. Turns out I never actually tested it outside of Chrome DevTools.

What's the most misleading success you've had in web dev before reality hit?

I built a free square image cropper that has preview of what it will look like when it's set in social media

There are several websites let you crop images into a square, and you can even set a profile picture without cropping at all. However, you usually can't see how it will actually look until after you set it, and adjusting it over and over again can be a hassle. That's why I created this website.

It's completely free, with no ads, no sign-ups, and no shady servers.

Guys Its Finally Happened to ME! I have....the EYES!

Whats up!

Been a software engineer for over 4 years now. And yesterday I finally experienced the level of enlightenment we all aspire to.

I got a code review request from a fellow senior engineer, it was about 15 files and 300 lines. I finsished the review in about 5 minutes, and requested changes.

Fellow engineer says there's no way you finished the review THAT fast. You haven't even pulled it down and ran it on your local !

I said "I didnt need to pull it down. And as I noted in the review this is not going to work for x,y,z reasons and also these 2 edges cases are uncovered blah blah"

Fellow engineer comes back 20 minutes later, and said "wow how did y..."
